A three column distillation scheme to produce a 97% by weight pure naphthalene stream has been proposed. The first column removes anthracene as the bottoms product, and 1,2,4 methyl benzene is separated out as the overhead in the second. A small loss of naphthalene is allowed in this column. The final column produces high purity naphthalene. The purpose of this simulation is to design the columns to meet the product purity specifications.
